PREDICTED FOOD TRENDS FOR 2019

As 2018 draws to a close, we’re excited to see what’s going to be proving popular on next year’s menu. Over the last 12 months, we’ve seen foods such as avocados and courgetti spaghetti rise to fame, along with more people choosing to live dairy free, gluten free and vegan lifestyles. So, what looks to be in store for 2019?

  • Bitter foods

According to Waitrose, foods with a strong and sharp taste such as black coffee, dark chocolate, chargrilled meats and craft beers will be enjoyed more regularly throughout 2019. If that sounds like your cup of tea (or in this case, coffee), we’d recommend giving the Cold Brew Coffee Dark Chocolate by Coco Chocolatier a try!

  • Hot and spicy flavours

Hot and spicy flavours, particularly those used in African and Mexican recipes, are expected to become more popular over the next 12 months, so we’re expecting the Up In Smoke Gift Tube by The Smokey Carter to fly off the shelves!   • Floral flavours

At the other end of the scale, sweet flavours with floral notes are also set to gain traction in 2019. Rose, lavender and violet tones are starting to feature more regularly in recipes and it looks like consumers are already embracing the trend.   • Alcohol-flavoured foods

Infusing foods with alcohol isn’t a new thing, but it certainly looks set to rise in the new year. From marshmallows and chocolate to jams and marmalades – we ourselves offer a huge selection of alcohol-infused products, so be sure to search the site for some hidden treasures!
